Editor’s Note, Version 1 :

This book was created specifically for the PSYC 103: Introduction to Psychology for Majors course at Colorado State University, Pueblo.

Academia is collaborative and cumulative, in that we are all working together to serve our students, advance research in our fields, and build and share resources for others. Much of the material contained within is adapted or remixed from existing OER textbooks – you will see the names of the authors/contributors on each individual chapter. I am grateful to the efforts of these authors in creating these materials and to their willingness to publish their work as an open educational resource. I would also like to express my thanks to the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 PSYC 103 students who provided comments and suggestions on the content of this textbook prior to its Pressbooks debut.

As I edited this book, I wanted to focus on information most relevant to the freshman or new transfer student in the psychology major at my institution and make sure the textbook represents the study body here at CSUP. I also wanted to incorporate the suggestions of the students mentioned previously.  To do so, I removed some material, added additional information, links, and photos, and tailored the content to the psychology discipline, including incorporating footnotes into the body of the text and editing in-text citations and references to be in 7th ed. APA format.
