Consider the following questions:

  • What have you learned previously about acceptable sources for class assignments? Which of the sources described in this chapter do you consider “good sources”? Were there any surprises?
  • Review the scientific method from Chapter 7. How does the structure of an empirical journal article reflect the scientific method?
  • Consider the concept of accidental plagiarism. Is it something you have heard about before? What steps do you take to avoid plagiarism?
  • This book focuses on APA style. What other styles have you learned and used in your educational journey?
  • Describe the process you use when paraphrasing from a source. What might you suggest to students who are struggling with paraphrasing?
